2025/26 Corn Planting in Brazil to Start Within Weeks

Even though the 2024/25 safrinha corn harvest has not yet been completed, some farmers in southern Brazil will start planting their 2025/26 summer corn crop before the end of August. Brazilian farmers are allowed to start planting their first corn crop as soon as they feel the conditions are suitable.

Areas of southern Brazil received heavy rain over the weekend, which is quite unusual for this time of the year. In fact, the entire dry season thus far in Brazil has been wetter than normal, which should provide good soil moisture for the start of corn planting. Farmers in southern Brazil are expected to trim their summer corn acreage in favor of more soybeans and safrinha corn, which has been the trend in recent years.
